Diasta Fabrique – Rijndijk Leiden

Diasta – Rijndijk Leiden is a residential development located along the Oude Rijn in Leiden. The project concerns the redevelopment of the former Diasta site along the Rijndijk.

For many years this location was home to the Fabriek van Diastatische Producten, an industrial facility producing enzymes and ingredients for the food industry. The factory played an important role in the industrial history of Leiden and gave the area its name: Diasta.

Today the site is being transformed into a new waterfront residential area. The development consists of several plots along the Oude Rijn and is being redeveloped together with development partners into a high-quality living environment featuring a mix of houses and apartments.

The urban plan includes several residential buildings positioned along the riverfront and around a landscaped inner courtyard. Within the plan, different housing types will be realized, ranging from compact apartments to spacious family homes with views over the water.

Key principles within the development include:

• careful transformation of a historic industrial site
• strengthening the connection between the Rijndijk and the Oude Rijn

The development will be carried out in phases together with several development partners and forms part of the wider transformation of former industrial areas along the Oude Rijn into attractive residential environments.

The site lies a short distance from the historic centre of Leiden and combines an urban setting with living by the water. Its position along the river creates an attractive residential environment with direct connections to the city centre and the surrounding landscape.
